Local nonprofit holds Girls’ Day of Fun at Hasselbring Senior Center

On Saturday August the 20, Mothers of Joy institute for Parenting and Family wellness, a nonprofit organization here in Flint, provided a Girls’ Day of Fun at Hasselbring Senior Center.
The executive director of Mothers of Joy Institute wanted to provide a two-generation opportunity where girls, along with their mother or fathers, could have a couple of hours of fun designing a backpack. Miss Shearese, as a lot of parents and children call her, stated that when you create something you can determine the value or worth of a thing.
The young ladies then had a fashion show to showcase their backpacks. Parents and grandparents who brought and participated in the activities stated they really enjoy watching their daughter and granddaughters smile, and Miss. Shearese read a story that was provided by Early on, called “I’m Sorry.” The story spoke to friends and their relationships. Also, the book stated sorry only matters when you mean it.
The girls had an opportunity to talk about how they felt about friendships, bullying and going back to school.
Fruits of Elegance provided slushies of all kinds of colors-like watermelon, mango, lime and pineapple.
There was karaoke.  Dinah Schaller from the CRIM showed the girls how to make stress relief shakers.
There was also a debut lemonade stand by a young entrepreneur.
Mothers of joy Institute repairing and family wellness would like to thanked Hasselbring Senior Center for allowing the safe space to provide a family event for the community.  Many volunteers and board members gave of themselves on this monumental day.
Mothers of Joy Institute is looking to have another event in September.
