Hamady Complete Food Center Officially Closed

By Sheri L. Stuart, Staff Writer

Rumors that Hamady Complete Food Center was on the brink of closure have been confirmed. The store closed its doors last week after a brief return to the Flint market.  Hamady Complete Food Center officially opened in July with an elaborate grand-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its 74,000-square-foot facility located at Clio and Pierson Road. Local residents were excited to welcome the return of the iconic brand, which served the Flint area more than 25 years ago. Published reports said company spokesperson Jim McColgan, Jr. confirmed the store could not meet its financial obligations to sustain operations. Beverly’s Place, a soul food restaurant located inside the store, closed too.  A Google search of Hamady Complete Food Center identified the store as permanently closed.
