22-year-old local woman sentenced for beating grandmother with intent to murder

22-year-old Camri Brown was recently sentenced to spend eight to 48 years in prison for the beating of Brown’s grandmother, Vicky Yrlas.

The beating happened the day before Thanksgiving. It left Yrlas in a coma after sustaining massive head injuries.

The family was protesting outside Genesee County Courthouse on Friday, March 22. They are asking the court to consider a longer minimum sentence for Brown as their loved one remains in a vegetative state.

Brown has pleaded no contest to the charges of assault with intent to murder and domestic violence.
