Flint Rx Kids hosting Baby Parade June 11

The 1918 Children’s Year included Baby Parades across the nation, aimed to “save 100,000 babies” by addressing critical issues affecting child welfare, including maternal and child health, poverty and educational resources. Rx Kids–the nation’s first citywide maternal and infant cash prescription program–strives to build on this legacy a century later.

In that spirit, the public is invited to the inaugural Rx Kids Baby Parade!

Date: Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Time: 2-4 p.m.

Location: 305 Walnut St. Flint, MI, 48503 (Near the Buick Gallery); parking is available in the lot behind the FIM Whiting

After a short program including music and speakers, families from all across Flint will process down a short parade loop at the Flint Cultural Center. After the parade there will be activities and free scoops of the Rx Kids signature Strawberry Sweetheart ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store.  A new Flint Public Art Project Rx Kids mural will also be at the parade site, generously sponsored by the Economic Security Project.
