Michigan Primary Election Unofficial Results: August 2026 Genesee County Vote Totals

As of approximately 7:30 a.m. on August 5, 2026, unofficial primary results were for various races in Genesee County were as follows:

For the Democratic primary for governor, Jocelyn Benson led with 1,228,938 votes (83.1%), while Christopher Robert Swanson came in second with 250,168 votes (16.9%). In the GOP primary for governor, John James received the most votes with 465,170 (50%), followed by Perry Johnson with 327,320 votes (35.2%), Mike Cox with 120,741 votes (13%), and Eric Nesbitt with 16,265 votes (1.7%).

For Flint Mayor, Incumbent Sheldon Neeley had 5,132 votes (42.9%), Tonya Burns received 3,913 votes (32.7%), Roshanda Womack had 1,709 votes (14.3%), and Micaiah Owens received 1,195 votes (10%).

For Flint City Council, the top two vote getters will also face each other for the November 3 general election.

In Ward 1, Arthur Woodson had the most votes. He had 625 votes, or 42.2%. Deborah J. Coleman had the next most votes: 471 votes, or 31.8%.

In Ward 2, LaShawn Johnson received 698 votes, or 41.01%, and Ladel Lewis in second place had 426 votes, or 25.03%

In Ward 5, Joel Arnold had 465 votes, and was the top vote getter with 35% of the votes cast in that ward. DeWaun Robinson with the next most votes: 406 votes, approximately 30.5% of the votes.

In Ward 8, Ezekiel Harris had 752 votes, He had 58% of the votes cast for that ward. Casey Lester had 406, or 31.3% of the votes, as the next highest vote getter.

Several millage proposals were approved, including the Genesee County Emergency Medical Services renewal with 64,597 yes votes (73.4%), the Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment renewal with 61,595 yes votes (67.6%), and the MTA millage with 58,172 yes votes (64.1%).

For 67th District Court judge, Cheryl Lopez received the most votes- 9,592. K.C. Baran received the next most votes, with 6,552.

For other contests, Abdul El-Sayed received 740,943 votes (48.48%), in a close race with Haley Stevens for Democratic US State Senator, who had 726,045 votes statewide. Uncontested Incumbent Kristen McDonald Rivet dominated the Democratic Representative race for Congress, Eighth District with 55,507 votes (99.49%).
