If securing health care coverage has felt challenging in the past, or if recent life changes have left you without a health plan, an ACA Marketplace plan—also known as an exchange plan—may be an excellent solution.
These plans are designed to help individuals and families enroll in health insurance. If you don’t have coverage through an employer, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or another source, an Individual and Family ACA Marketplace plan can help you get covered for 2026.
Open enrollment for 2026 coverage began on Nov. 1, 2025, and runs through Jan.15, 2026, in most states. With the deadline fast approaching, now is the time to act.
- Understand Key ACA Marketplace Changes for 2026
Be aware of changes impacting ACA Marketplace plans for 2026. Notably, you must enroll during the current open enrollment period to get coverage for 2026. Outside of this period, you’ll generally need a qualifying life event (such as getting married, having a baby, or losing other coverage) to sign up. Additionally, decisions regarding enhanced subsidies for 2026 are still being discussed in Washington D.C., so stay informed about the latest news.
- Review Your Current Plan, Monthly Premium Costs, and Auto-Pay Settings
Even if you already have an ACA Marketplace plan, take the time to review it now. Don’t assume it will automatically renew with the same benefits and costs. Be sure to compare your options and check to see if your monthly premium will go up in 2026. Additionally, confirm any auto-renewal or auto-pay settings to make sure they match your needs and budget for the upcoming year.
- ACA Marketplace Plans Provide Essential Coverage for Every Stage of Life
These plans are designed for individuals and families who need to purchase health insurance independently. They offer a vital safety net, ensuring you have coverage for medical care when you need it. Beyond addressing unforeseen health issues, they empower you to proactively manage your health through preventive services, helping you stay healthier. Many ACA Marketplace plans, like those offered by UnitedHealthcare, include quality providers and networks, connecting you with the care you need, when you need it.
- Enrollment and Member Support Have Significantly Improved
Navigating health insurance may feel overwhelming at times, but ACA Marketplace plans often come with robust support systems such as no-cost, 1-on-1 assistance to help you find the right plan, with translation services available in multiple languages. This support can simplify the enrollment process, ensuring you get the help you need to make an informed decision.
- Secure Your Health Future Before Deadlines
Open enrollment for 2026 coverage began on Nov. 1, 2025, and concludes on Jan. 15, 2026. If you missed the Dec. 15, 2025, deadline, you still have until Jan.15, 2026, to enroll for coverage beginning Feb. 1, 2026.
