Question: Who is eligible for an extra dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the 5-17 age group?
Answer:Â For those 5-17 who have completed their vaccine series and are moderately to severely immunocompromised, they should get an additional third dose of Pfizer at least 28 days after their second dose AND if they are 12+, they should receive a single dose of Pfizer at least five months after completing their third dose. If the child is NOT 12+, they are not eligible for a booster dose of the vaccine at this time.
For those ages 5-17 who are not immunocompromised, they should wait at least five months after the second dose if they are 12+ and they should get a booster dose of Pfizer at least five months after their second dose.
For those not yet 12 years of age or who have not waited at least five months after their second dose of vaccine, they are not eligible for a booster dose of vaccine at this time.
