Two women accused of assaulting postal worker in Flint

The city of Flint Police Department is currently investigating an alleged assault involving a United States Postal employee that was captured on video. On Thursday April 8, a postal employee was delivering mail in River Village Apartments when an alleged assault took place.

Two women are being accused of trying to rob stimulus checks from the postal worker’s van.

“Bruh y’all hit the mailman, they trying to get that stimulus,” the man recording the assault can be heard saying.

Several people can be seen watching the incident. One woman tries to break up the fight, but is pushed back by the cameraman who tells her she may get hurt.

After the postal worker is able to pull herself free, the two attackers get back into their 4×4 and drive away at a fast pace, with the postal worker running behind them.

The Flint Police released this statement on Friday April 9: “We are communicating with the United States Postal Inspector and will be working with the inspector throughout the investigation. Arrest warrants on two individuals will be presented to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office today. The postal employee is in good condition. This in an open / ongoing investigation. We are asking anyone with information regarding the assault to contact Flint Police Department or Crime Stoppers.”

As of press time, detectives had not confirmed whether the two women attacked the worker in order to take the stimulus checks located in the vehicle the postal worker was driving.
