The So-Called "Little Brother" Dominates Again

The So-Called "Little Brother" Dominates Again

By: Alex LaGrone

The Michigan St. Spartans beat the Michigan Wolverines last Saturday 35-11 for their sixth victory in the last seven games against the Wolverines. The Spartans were led by running back, Jeremy Langford, who scored three touchdowns and rushed for 177 yards.

The Spartans have often felt disrespected in this heated rivalry; especially since former Michigan running back Mike Hart, referred to them as "Little Brother" after a 2007 Wolverine win.

They say sticks and stones may break my bones but words don't hurt.  However, Mike Hart's words were used as motivation. This is what the Spartans used as an advantage for that needed edge.

All that success hasn't moved that chip off of Sparty's shoulder. Spartans quarterback, Connor Cook said after the game "they ran out, and one of their players had a spear or a dagger or something and just spiked it in our grass field."

"This happened right before kickoff. They just disrespected us," Connor continued. In this heated rivarly both teams were careful to watch their mouths not to say anything that would give any added incentive.

After the game, Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio stated "you might as well just come out and say what you're feeling at some point in time. You can only be diplomatic for so long."

Dantonio has been known to voice his dislike for the Wolverines since he became the head coach for the Spartans.  After the Hart comments he stated "Pride comes before the fall."

With that victory the Spartans record improves to 7-1, while the Wolverines are now 3-5.
