Floyd Mayweather Wins The Pay-Per-Snooze Over Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Wins The Pay-Per-Snooze Over Pacquiao

Many fight fans around the world was hyped for the so called fight of the century, it was anything but that. Welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather's plan was his usual, run, duck and not get hit. The battle against Manny Pacquiao was vintage Mayweather.

Mayweather retained his championship belt with a unanimous decision over Pacquiao. This type of style has worked for Mayweather for 48 fights. Mayweather's style seems to be unpopular with many fight fans, because of his lack of showmanship. This fight was more about substance than style.

You can't blame Mayweather for people shelling out money for pay-per-view. Mayweather claims to be the best fighter of all time, but he's not that. He's just the best of what we got right now.

Boxing is at an all time low, with not much to look forward to when it comes to a high quality match. Many were hoping this fight would be something special. Mayweather is still under contract with Showtime to fight once more in September. Mayweather doesn't know who will be his opponent for that match. One thing for sure, the payout won't be near what he just received against Pacquiao; they might as well air it on Showtime.

On to another topic…

Before the baseball season began, the New York Yankees and Alex Rodriguez were at odds. The Yankees wanted him to stay away, but Rodriguez was under contract. A-Rod you may remember was suspended all of last season for performance-enhancing drug use.

A-Rod had previously tried to sue Major League Baseball, the Yankees, the Commissioner, the MLB Players Association and the ball boy to overturn his suspension.

Once the season started everyone was trying to get along and everything was fine until…you guessed it! A-Rod had bonus money due (6 million) because he tied the great Willie Mays 660th career home run record about two weeks ago.

The Yankees front office said "we ain't payin you nuthin". The bonus was tied to marketing. Yankee General Manager, Brian Cashman, insist they can't market his feats because he cheated, which voids bonuses. Rodriguez views that as the Yankees problem.

There is a chance that Rodriguez and his representatives may take the Yankees to court for the bonus money, but at this time A-Rod is just happy to continue his career.
