Special General Election to be held August 5 to fill 3rd Ward vacancy

A Special General Election will be held in the City of Flint on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in order to fill
a vacancy in the Office of Council Member – Third (3rd) Ward.

NOTE: Only voters who currently reside in the original or “old” Third (3rd) Ward district are eligible to vote in this Special General Election. For questions regarding voter eligibility for this Special General Election, please contact the City Clerk’s Office directly.

** IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FLINT VOTERS **

Absent Voter Ballot Applications and Absent Voter Ballots have been mailed to residents of the “old”
Third (3rd) Ward district who have requested these items. The following are restrictions for these
election documents.

Absent Voter Ballot Applications Instructions

THE ONLY PERSONS WHO MAY LAWFULLY POSSESS a signed Absent Voter Ballot Application are (1) the voter, (2) a member of the applicant’s immediate family, (3) a person residing in the applicant’s household, (4) a postal employee, (5) an authorized election official, or (6) a Michigan registered voter who was asked to submit the application by the applicant.

Anyone who is asked to return an application at the request of the applicant MUST sign the Certificate of Authorized Registered Elector Returning Absent Voter Ballot Application that appears on the back of the
application form, or a signed and dated version of certified text.

Absent Voter Ballot Instructions

THE ONLY PERSONS LEGALLY ALLOWED TO RETURN a completed Absent Voter Ballot are (1) the voter, (2) a member of the voter’s immediate family, (3) a person residing in the voter’s household that was asked to return the voter’s completed absent voter ballot, (4) a postal employee, or (5) an authorized election official.

** GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION **

Voters who have not mailed their completed Absent Voter Ballots to the Clerk’s Office may use the secured ballot drop boxes, which are accessible 24-hours a day, up until 8 p.m. on Election Night. The drop boxes are located at the following locations:

• In front of Flint City Hall – 1101 S. Saginaw Street;
• In front of the Flint Police Department – 210 E. Fifth Street;
• Flint Fire Station No. 3 – 1525 M.L. King Avenue;
• Flint Fire Station No. 5 – 3402 Western Road;
• Flint Fire Station No. 6 – 716 W. Pierson Road; and
• Flint Fire Station No. 8 – 202 E. Atherton Road.

On Election Day, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, all Third (3rd) Ward voting precincts will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

The City Clerk’s Office is located on the 2nd Floor, Flint City Hall, 1101 S. Saginaw Street.
