Lottie Ferguson named vice president of development of Community Foundation of Greater Flint

FLINT, MI – The Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) recently named Flint native Lottie Ferguson as its new vice president of Development and Donor Services. In this role Ferguson is responsible for building the community’s endowment and connecting donors with community needs. She comes to the foundation from the City of Flint, where she has worked as the city’s chief resilience officer under Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley.

Chief Resilience Officer Lottie Ferguson will depart her role at the City of Flint to join the Community Foundation of Greater Flint as vice president of Development and Donor Services, effective June 23.

“We are proud of Lottie’s work on behalf of Flint residents, the partnerships she has created and nurtured, and her ability to lead staff with grace and compassion,” Neeley said. “Lottie has been my trusted friend and adviser for many years. We have learned a great deal from each other, and it is truly a joy to celebrate her continued growth and success. Lottie is one of Flint’s greatest champions, and I look forward to her continued partnership as she helps move our community forward in her role at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.”

Throughout her career, Ferguson has woven together leadership skills in fund development, capital campaigns, and countywide projects, with a lens of the community’s culture and its available resources. She is a highly motivated and compassionate executive with over 15 years of experience in grant writing, fund development and thoughtful leadership.

“I’m also just a kid from Flint,” said Ferguson. “I look forward to serving in this new, challenging role and furthering the mission, vision and goals of the community foundation. Joining this team of community-minded professionals is an exciting opportunity.”

Ferguson previously served as the Flint and Genesee Group’s director of Grants and Development, and as the fund development specialist for the Ennis Center for Children. She holds a Master of Science degree in administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. Her professional training includes the Yale School of Management’s Executive Education Women’s Leadership Certificate, and the Disney Institute’s Approach to Leadership Excellence.

“During Lottie’s career in Flint, she has provided graceful guidance under some challenging circumstances,” said Isaiah M. Oliver, CFGF President and CEO.

“She is skilled in overseeing a wide variety of operational, staff development and fiscal responsibilities, all rooted in integrity,” Oliver added. “Her expertise in strategic planning, project management and customer service will be a great asset to growing the community’s endowment.”

Ferguson joins the community foundation’s senior leadership team on June 26, 2023.
