Sreena Frederick had been working as a CNA at a nursing home in Clio, Michigan when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world without much warning. Like most Americans, COVID impacted not only her everyday life, but her ability to earn a living.

“When COVID, happened they took my position away” Frederick stated.

She began the process of figuring out what to do next. She knew that she needed to pay her bills but was tired of someone else having the ability to control her financial future. It was then that she decided to turn her hobby into a full-time job.

“With COVID everyone wanted everything cleaned; so I decided to turn my passion of cleaning and organizing into a business,” Frederick said.

Fredrick describes starting Clean & Serene, which is the name of her company, as a labor of love.

“I had to get a business license and insurance and then I found people who wanted their businesses and homes cleaned and organized inside and out. Now I clean homes, office buildings, apartment complexes, businesses, everything.”

“Owning a business is a lot of responsibility. I have to make sure that all of the details are taken care of, but I love what I do. I love my clients. I love being able to take a room that is dirty or in disarray and make it clean and functional. I love taking people’s stress away.”
