Jury convicts Flint man of sexually assaulting teen

FLINT – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said a jury has convicted a Flint man with three counts of sexual assault related to a series of incidents that occurred in 2021.

Jamieson Woolard, 45, is convicted of three counts of criminal sexual conduct third degree for assaulting an individual over 13 and under 16 years of age on three separate occasions in November and December 2021.

In the first incident, the victim had been lured by Woolard, a relative of the victim’s girlfriend, to help him with an errand. Upon returning from the errand, Woolard drove into a cornfield where he assaulted the victim. Subsequent assaults occurred in similar fashion.

The victim was afraid to report the assaults for fear it would interfere with his relationship with his girlfriend. The incidents came to light after a friend of the victim told the victim’s mother that Woolard was on Michigan’s Sex Offender Registry. That revelation prompted the victim’s mother to ask him about Woolard. and the victim broke down and told his mother what had occurred.

Woolard had previously been convicted in 2009 of attempted criminal sexual conduct second degree with a person 13 years of age or younger involving very similar facts to the current case.

As a habitual offender, Woolard faces a possible sentence of up to six years in prison.
