Harambee Wellness presents free outdoor workout series to help the Flint community get fit

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has decreased morale and increased pounds.  Harambee Wellness is hosting a free outdoor workout series – Get Fit in Flint – to encourage physical activity.  Gyms have been closed for months in an effort to limit the spread of the disease, and people have given up on achieving their New Year’s resolution of choosing a healthier lifestyle.  Harambee Wellness wants to help provide a safe solution to the exercise dilemma.

Harambee Wellness is offering its Get Fit In Flint class from 6-7 p.m. every Wednesday through the month of September at Brush Park.

“Now that the weather is warmer, we can take our workouts beyond our living rooms,” said Marquita Adams, certified personal trainer and founder of Harambee Wellness, LLC.

I wanted to create a fun, yet safe solution to the exercise dilemma without the exposure that an enclosed gym space may present,” Adams added. “Nature, exercise and a motivating atmosphere is the perfect recipe for improving your physical and mental health.  That’s the goal of the series.”

The Get Fit in Flint weekly class series is powered by Harambee Wellness in partnership with What’s Up Downtown.  This is an experience that will provide a calorie burning workout suitable for all levels of fitness.  The classes will include a mix of cardio and strengthening exercises. Local DJ, Alex Kadie, will provide the music to keep the energy and momentum going.

The expansive space of the outdoor venue allows for strict adherence to social distancing protocols with each class limited to a specific number of participants. The classes are free for adults and require advance registration via the website www.HarambeeWellness.com.

The vision, mission, and core values of Harambee are all centered around togetherness. “Harambee” is a Swahili word meaning, “all pull together.” Founded in January 2017 by Marquita Adams, a Flint native, with the purpose of cultivating community by creating fun health and fitness experiences, Harambee Wellness provides personal training, online training, group fitness classes, fitness parties, corporate wellness solutions and meal planning.

Brush Park is located at 120 East First St.
