(Flint, MI) – Hamilton Community Health Network and McFarlan Villages are proud to announce the opening of Hamilton-McFarlan Senior Health Center located at 800 E. Court Street, in Flint. The health center is first of its kind here in Michigan, and perhaps nationwide, where a federally qualified health center and senior residency program collaborate to bring quality healthcare directly into the residential facility.
Hamilton-McFarlan Senior Health Center came to fruition after Mr. Clarence Pierce, CEO of Hamilton Community Health Network, and Executive Director, Ms. Erica Thrash-Sall, both realized a need not only for the McFarlan residents but the entire senior community in Flint.
“We are excited to be able to open the doors and serve the community in a new capacity,” Pierce said. “Hamilton believes that accessible and affordable healthcare is necessary for everyone, regardless of age or ability to pay. Opening a new clinic inside a retirement facility makes sense for those living there and for those who are looking for a medical home that is geared toward them.”
This is Hamilton’s eighth clinic and will be led by Shelia Thomas a Licensed Nurse Practitioner who has been with Hamilton Community Health Network for over three years. Thomas has been passionate about geriatric care since becoming a provider.
“The Hamilton-McFarlan Senior Health Center will provide high quality primary health care and services that will help older adults prevent disease and manage their health, so they can age in place and have the best quality of life possible,” said Erica Thrash-Sall, executive director of McFarlan Charitable Corporation managed by Presbyterian Villages of Michigan.
The new clinic has been made possible by the generous support of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. It will be open 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays. To make an appointment call 810-406-4246 or online at HamiltonCHN.org.
Hamilton Community Health Network has been in the Genesee area for over 35 years and McFarlan Homes has been serving the community for over 100 years. Together they serve over 15,000 Genesee County residents annually.
