EDUCARE FLINT

[Flint, MI] – GST Michigan Works! announces its recognition and celebration of the U.S. Department of Labor’s 9th Annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) by hosting an event for early childhood education providers at Educare Flint (1000 Gladwyn Street, Flint, MI 48504) on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.
The U.S. Department of Labor established NAW to showcase and promote high-quality, inclusive, in-demand career pathway opportunities through Registered Apprenticeship. NAW allows employers, including sponsors and providers, to showcase their programs, facilities, and apprentices so that career seekers can learn more about the benefits of Registered Apprenticeship and the programs available in their communities. For more information, visit apprenticeship.gov/NAW.
The theme for NAW 2023 is “Registered Apprenticeship: Superhighway to Good Jobs.” This theme reflects the prominence Registered Apprenticeship has received as a proven and industry-driven training model for overcoming various workforce and education challenges and addressing issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the workplace. Registered Apprenticeship is recognized as a critical strategy for improving job quality and creating access to good-paying jobs for all, including populations historically underrepresented – women, people of color, and individuals with a disability – and underserved populations, such as youth and young adults. It addresses some of our nation’s pressing workforce shortages in teaching, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, cybersecurity and other high-priority sectors.
Employers, industry associations, labor organizations, community-based organizations, workforce partners, education providers and government leaders will host over a thousand NAW events and activities to showcase and promote high-quality, inclusive, in-demand career pathway opportunities through Registered Apprenticeship. Events will include open houses, skill competitions, community forums, apprentice graduations, business open houses, high school and college career fairs, apprenticeship signing days, industry roundtable events, diversity and inclusion dialogues, and more.
“The Apprenticeship Training Model is an interactive approach to early childcare,” said Wanda Bigelow. “It involves hands-on learning, guided exploration and mentorship. By blending structured activities with creative freedom, apprenticeship programs empower apprentices to develop their unique talents and skills, laying the foundation for future success in the children they work with. We are proud to support National Apprenticeship Week and to showcase the impact apprenticeships have on building the workforce in this country.”
The early childhood education providers event aims to raise awareness about the apprenticeship training model’s transformative potential and spearhead initiatives to increase the number of skilled professionals in the field. Recognizing the critical role that early childhood education plays in shaping the future of our society, this event seeks to shed light on the apprenticeship training model. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into its efficacy and benefits to aspiring educators and the broader community.
