GHS to host discussion about mental health, substance abuse and suicide Friday, Nov. 22

Genesee Health System hosts Pillars of Hope EmpowerMENt Panel Discussion

 GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Genesee Health System (GHS), along with community partners, will host the Pillars of Hope: EmpowerMENt Panel Discussion on Friday, November 22, from 12 – 2 p.m. at Midway Square Townhomes Community Center, 3102 Fox Circle, Flint MI 48507.

This will be the second GHS hosted Pillars of Hope event after the series kicked off with Jason Wilson on October 22. GHS plans to continue with the Pillars of Hope events at various locations within the community to empower us all to take care of ourselves.

 “Pillars of Hope addresses mental health topics and resources needed within the community,” said Dexter Clarke, GHS Director of Faith-Based and Community Engagement Initiatives.

Clarke added: “It is important to host these collaborative community events around Genesee County to meet people where they are. We want to continue the work to reduce stigmas while creating inclusive environments that address behavioral and physical health needs.”

 Join GHS with community partners Percy Glover with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.: Flint Alphas – Michigan, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., I.G.N.I.T.E, Pastor Ronnie Wiggins and Marshawn Wiggins with Higher Quality of Life Ministries, Shon Hart with InvolvedDadChristmas at The Dort Financial Center, and Church Without Walls Flint, for a Community EmpowerMENt Panel Discussion about mental health, substance abuse, and suicide in our community.

 

Attendees will receive resources with a free toy giveaway at 2:30 p.m., sponsored by Christmas at The Dort Financial Center.
