A Flint woman previously accused of shooting another Flint woman has dodged additional jail time because of a guilty plea.
28-year-old Chandra Cole-Weekly was originally charged with assault with intent to murder, a felony firearm charge, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon on school property.
She was accused of shooting and injuring a 30-year-old Flint woman in the parking lot of the International Academy of Flint after an ongoing dispute between the two families.
Cole-Weekly was picking up her child from the International Academy of Flint when a woman walked up to her vehicle and threw liquid, breaking the passenger side window. Cole-Weekly then shot and injured the other woman. Though the victim got in her car and drove away to another location to wait for an ambulance -and has recovered from her injury- Cole-Weekly was arrested at the scene.
Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss the first three charges after Cole-Weekly entered the guilty plea for one misdemeanor count of possessing a weapon on school property. As a result, Cole-Weekly, who had served 52 days in jail, was not given any additional jail time. She will also have to give over her weapon.
