(Grand Blanc Township, Mich.)- Happy Howl-oween! Join the Friends of the Grand Blanc Dog Park and PACE (Pet and Animal Cremation Endearment) for a howling good time at their eleventh annual Howl-oween Costume Contest. After hosting the event virtually last year, the festivities will return to an in-person event featuring the largest number of costume categories for your pooch to win in the region. The festivities will take place from 2 – 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 10 with registration at Creasey Bicentennial Park inside the main pavilion.
The costume spectacular is hosted by the Friends of the Grand Blanc Dog Park, in conjunction with PACE Pet Cremation Services. A Blessing of the Dogs will take place at 1:45 p.m. before the Howl-oween festivities begin. The blessing will be hosted by Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church. Anyone wishing to participate in the blessing should arrive by 1:30 p.m.
For a $5 donation every dog receives two costume entries along with a treat bag. Each additional entry is $5 registration per dog per costume category. Registration will be paid at the event.
Awards will be given to the best costumes in the following categories: people’s choice, homemade costume, most creative costume, puppy costume, senior dog, kid/dog combination and owner/dog costume combination. Each winner will receive a custom ribbon and certificate as an award.
The Best Overall Costume and the People’s Choice Award will both receive a prize package along with their award.

Professional photos will be taken by Kara Pattison Photography. Humans are invited to join their canine family members for photos to commemorate the day. Photos will be available at no cost from the sponsorship provided by Commissioner Young.
In addition to participating in the festivities, participants are encouraged to bring food donations for local animal rescues. Donations for both dogs and cats will be collected at the event.
The Bicentennial Park is located on Grand Blanc Road, between Fenton Road and Porter Road, at 1505 E. Grand Blanc Rd, Grand Blanc, 48439. The pavilion is in the back of the park near the playground. The event will not be at the dog park site.
