Keesha Tripplett says that being a parent and grandparent is tough these days.

“There is so much to worry about with your kids, but you should be able to send them to school and not worry about if they are going to return home,” Tripplett said.

Like many other parents, Tripplett was glued to her television on May 24, 2022, as details emerged about a school shooting that took place in Uvalde Texas, where two teachers and nineteen students were killed in a school shooting. Seventeen other people at Robb Elementary school, where the shooting took place and the grandmother of the alleged gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos, were also shot and injured.

“I worry about my grandson Makhi a lot,” Tripplett expressed. “He is only 9 years old and in the third grade. He’s only a year younger than a lot of those children who were killed in that school. I pray for him every day and I tell him to pay attention during the drills that they do at school.”

According to CNN there have been at least 177 school shootings since 2009.

Keesha Tripplett and her grandson Makhi Tripplett spend every Sunday at the ROCK Ministries, where Keesha Tripplett serves as a missionary. Still, she said she worries about the safety of her grandson.
