Flint, MI — The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library recently welcomed Anthony Feimster Jr, professionally known as Feimstro, as its 2025 Summer Artist-in-Residence. Through this dynamic new partnership,
Feimstro will lead a series of interactive musical programs designed to inspire literacy, musical
storytelling and promote social-emotional growth.

This special residency is part of the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge and will run from through August 2025.

Feimstro’s residency will feature live performances, interactive sound exploration (including drumming
and rhythm games), movement-based music activities, and collaborative workshops with local theater
artists — all designed to support literacy and community engagement.

“Every Child Ready to Read’s five early literacy practices — sing, talk, read, write and play — are the
foundation of our work with children and families,” said Katie Badgley, youth services manager.
“Feimstro’s programs bring these practices to life through joyful music and movement that help build
critical literacy skills and lasting memories.”

The Artist-in-Residence program supports the Library’s mission to inspire lifelong learning, foster community engagement and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Flint.
