Breakfast event to take place at GM’s Factory One on Dec. 9
Flint, MI — What challenges and opportunities are shaping higher education today—locally and nationally? How are our colleges and universities adapting to meet the needs of students, employers and communities?
These questions and others like them will guide the next Community Candor LIVE! event hosted by Communities First, Inc., bringing together higher education leaders and community members for an open, solutions-focused discussion on The State of Higher Education.

Community Candor Live is Communities First, Inc.’s ongoing public conversation series designed to foster honest dialogue on issues that matter most to residents. As a nonprofit organization committed to building strong, vibrant communities through economic development, affordable housing, arts and culture and innovative programming, Communities First, Inc. uses these sessions to inform, connect and empower local voices.
The upcoming discussion will take place from 8–9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at GM’s Factory One, 303 W Water St, Flint, MI 48503. Featured speakers include Abby Parrill-Baker, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the University of Michigan–Flint, and Dr. Robert K. McMahan, President of Kettering University. The conversation will be moderated by Glenn Wilson, President and CEO of Communities First, Inc. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance to help shape the discussion.

“Higher education is evolving rapidly, and these changes have real implications for Flint and our region,” Glenn Wilson said. “Community Candor Live provides a platform for residents and leaders to come together, explore what’s ahead and consider how we can work collectively to ensure strong educational opportunities for everyone.”
