FLINT, Mich – Because potholes can be dangerous and cause damage to vehicles- and to address the issue of potholes efficiently, the City is of Flint encouraging residents to report potholes they encounter using the newly dedicated Pothole Hotline.
Potholes are created when snow and ice melt as part of Michigan’s seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. When moisture seeps into the pavement and freezes, it causes the ground to expand and pushes the pavement up creating a gap. As temperatures rise, the ground returns to normal levels creating a void or gap between the pavement and ground below it. When vehicles drive over the gap, the pavement can weaken leading to a hole in the road.
Residents can report potholes by calling 810.766.7343. When reporting, please provide the following information:
– The exact location of the pothole (street name and nearest cross street or landmarks).
– Your name and phone number for follow-up if necessary.
This process will help to ensure that the City can address roadway issues promptly and maintain effective communication with residents.
“We understand the frustration that potholes can cause drivers, and we are working diligently to improve the condition of our streets,” said Ed Taylor, Chief of Staff for the City of Flint.
Taylor added: “By working together and reporting issues, we can create safer and more reliable roads for everyone.”
