City of Flint Fire Department investigating fatal residential fire

FLINT, Mich. — The Flint Fire Department is investigating a tragic fire Friday at a home in the 1500 block of Blueberry Street.

Firefighters found three children inside the home. One child died, two other children were transported for emergency medical treatment, where they remained in critical condition as the evening of Friday, August 7.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy, and our hearts are with these children, their family, and everyone whose lives have been forever changed by this devastating loss,” said Flint Fire Chief Theron Wiggins. “Our firefighters and emergency responders did everything they could under extremely difficult circumstances. As we work to determine exactly what happened, we ask our community to keep this family in their thoughts and prayers.”

The investigation remains active, and no additional information is being released at this time. The City of Flint and the Flint Fire Department will provide updates as more information becomes available and can be shared.
