November 8, 2022 is election day. All over the country, there are several hotly contested seats ranging from local to state levels. Here in Flint, we will be deciding who takes the reigns of several local positions ranging from school board seats to the spot for the top city spot. Additionally, Flint voters will weigh in on who will hold multiple state seats including that of the governor. In this edition of the Flint Courier, we will take a look at what’s on the ballot for Flint residents and provide a guide to ensuring that your vote counts.
Partisan Section- The partisan section of the ballot offers voters the option of voting “straight party.” Voters who choose this option automatically vote for the republican, democrat, libertarian, U.S. taxpayer, working class, green or natural law party candidate on the ballot running for the following seats;
Governor and Lieutenant Governor
Secretary of State
Attorney General
Congressional Representative
Legislative Senator
State Representative
State Board of Education
Regent of the University of Michigan
Trustee of Michigan State University
Governor of Wayne State University
County Commissioner
Voters who do choose to not vote straight party ticket can go through each of these candidate sections and select the person of their choice for each of the seats, regardless of party.
Nonpartisan Section- Even if voters choose to vote “straight party” in the partisan section they must choose the candidate of their choice if they want to make a selection for the following seats;
Mayor
Justice of Supreme Court
Judge of Court of Appeals 2nd District Incumbent Position
Judge of Court of Appeals Incumbent Position Partial Term
Judge of Circuit Court 7th Circuit Incumbent Position
Judge of Circuit Court 7th Circuit Non-Incumbent Position
Mott Community College Board of Trustees
Mott Community Partial College Board of Trustees Partial Term
On the back of the ballot voters will also find choices for;
Flint Community School Board seats and three proposals

Flint voters have multiple options for casting their ballots including;
Going to Flint City Hall Office of the City Clerk and voting early, requesting an absentee application or voting at their assigned precinct on election day. For more information, voters can contact the office of the city clerk at 810-766-7413, or the office of the county clerk at 810-257-3225.
