(Flint, Mich.) – Flint Innovative Solutions (FIS) will host the Flint Eats App Launch Party and Community Cook-Off on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the North Flint Food Market, 5402 N. Clio Road, Flint MI 48504. The family-friendly festival celebrates the release of the updated Flint Eats App 3.0 while connecting Flint & Genesee County residents with local health and food resources.
The event’s centerpiece is a friendly culinary competition open to area chefs, caterers, food truck operators, and home cooks aged 18 and older. Organizers will provide all ingredients for approved contestants, who will compete for cash prizes up to $150 and local bragging rights.
“The launch of Flint Eats 3.0 represents an exciting new chapter in our mission to make vital health and nutrition resources easily accessible, because Food is Medicine!,” said Athena McKay, executive director of Flint Innovative Solutions. “By pairing this milestone with a cook-off, we’re bringing people together through food, fun, and friendly competition to build a healthier, more connected community.”
Designed to bridge gaps between residents and local support systems, the Flint Eats App original research model was built by academic partners and is now maintained by FIS to ensure long-term community ownership.
