Genesee Intermediate School District announces new member of its Board of Education

FLINT – The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) recently announced a new addition to its Board of Education. After notifying the community of the available vacancy and then holding public interviews, the board selected Salvatore Ausiello for the position during a public meeting held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

A board seat was left vacant due to the unfortunate passing of The Honorable John Conover. Ausiello will serve the remainder of Conover’s term, which ends June 30, 2023.

Ausiello has served on the Flushing Community Schools Board of Education since 1994. Along with his passion for education and his desire to meet student needs, he also brings a wealth of knowledge related to school improvement, technology, construction, advocacy, data and customer service. He has completed about 1,000 hours of professional learning that earned him Master Platinum Award status from the Michigan Association of School Boards.

Ausiello says his experiences as a school board member and his career in sales and customer service contribute to his expertise and ability to focus on goals and move initiatives forward.

“I look forward to expanding my involvement with education and to helping make a positive impact for children and families throughout Genesee County,” Ausiello stated.

Ausiello took his oath of office immediately after his appointment at the GISD Board of Education meeting on April 5.
