FLINT, MI — The 17th Annual Blessed to Be a Blessing Thanksgiving Dinner, presented byGenesee Health Systemand theCommunity Foundation of Greater Flint, will once again unite the Flint community for food, fellowship, and hope onTuesday, November 25, 2025, from 4–6 PM at the Center for Hope (812 Root Street, Flint, MI). The event ishosted by Well of Hope in partnership with Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties.
Founded in 2009 by Chia Morgan, a social worker and president of Well of Hope, the dinner began as a response to economic hardship and has since become one of Genesee County’s largest community Thanksgiving traditions.
“This dinner started as a response to GM’s mass exodus from Flint and since then we have supported our community through the Flint Water Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Morgan. “We stand prepared to meet the need this year in response to the current state of the economy. Our focus remains the same, meeting people where they are, providing what they need most, and reminding them that they are not forgotten.”
This year’s theme, “Warmth,” focuses on helping families stay supported through the holiday season. In addition to the dinner, Well of Hope is accepting applications for single mothers to receive help with heating bills and bedding for up to three family members.
The event will also offer flu shots courtesy of Alana’s Foundation, yoga demonstrations with Life Support Counseling and Resources, Round One Gaming Lab for kids, and special giveaways for attendees.
The 2025 Champion Sponsors include 1855 & Co., Valley Area Agency on Aging, Blue Cross Complete, HAP CareSource, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, along with dozens of volunteers who help bring the dinner to life each year.
Blessed to Be a Blessing continues to be a symbol of care and community resilience, extending Well of Hope’s mission to empower Flint families with compassion, dignity, and resources for better living.
