The Weiss Child Advocacy Center, a local child abuse prevention and advocacy agency serving the nonprofit sector since 2004, has announced the selection of Claudnyse Jenkins, JD, as its new executive director.  Claudnyse will fill the vacancy created by Jonquil Bertschi’s departure in February 2014. The selection was made after a regional search and selection process, during which Marcia Franks served as Interim Executive Director for the organization.

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Katherine Boucha, Weiss Center Board President.  “Claudnyse will bring leadership and creativity to the Center’s programs.  She has served nonprofits at various program, fundraising, executive and leadership levels, and has a breadth of perspective and experience.”
Claudnyse’s resume includes extensive experience in administration, communications, and fund development in the nonprofit sector.  She is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to this appointment Claudnyse was Vice President of Compliance and Development for Franklin-Wright Settlements, Inc. In addition to serving as legal counsel, her responsibilities included fund development, compliance, risk assessment, human resources, staff training, and strategic planning.
“I look forward to serving and partnering with the area’s human service organizations in this new capacity,” remarks Claudnyse.  “I am dedicated to this work because it provides vital services to some of the most vulnerable children in our community. The Weiss Center is a powerful voice for victims of abuse and neglect, and plays a key role in breaking the cycle of abuse through education and prevention programs.”
The Weiss Child Advocacy Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing child abuse and neglect services for Genesee County. For more information, visit www.weissadvocacycenter.org.
