Tree Lighting and Holiday Kick-Off at Flint City Hall

Mayor Karen Weaver and Flint City officials will help usher in the holiday season at Flint City Hall Friday, December 7, 2018  starting at 5 p.m. with a Tree Lighting/Holiday Kick Off event. In addition to honoring our local police and firefighters with trees lit with blue and red lights, there will be a tree lit with white lights to represent unity and peace.

A variety of community groups, organizations, and retailers have signed on to help make it a festive and entertaining event.  Jerome Threlkeld will serve as the host of the event and lead the crowd in singing a medley of carols.

Once the tree lighting ceremony is complete, everyone will be invited into the lobby of City Hall for free refreshments including hot chocolate provided by Walli’s Family Restaurant, coffee and juice provided by McDonald’s on Dort Highway. There will also be sweet treats thanks to donations generously provided by Meijer. The Home Depot has also been kind enough to support by donating holiday-themed toy building kits for the children who attend.

Those who participate in the indoor portion of the event will also enjoy musical entertainment courtesy of The Salvation Army Band and Antwan Kirkland. The administration wanted to offer a fun, uplifting event for City employees and residents of all ages to enjoy. So come out this Friday, December 7th as we kick off the holiday season in the City of Flint!
