Three Generations of Academic Excellence

Flint, Mich. — A love of learning and educating others runs deep for one Flint family. Roxie Lewis started it all when she graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Master of Education degree. She was a community school director and teacher in Flint schools until she retired. Roxie’s daughter, Lycrecia Parker, later graduated with a Master of Education and taught in the Flint pre-school program. On December 15, 2019, Lyrecias’s daughter, Lauren Parker, graduated with her Master of Education degree, representing three generations of teachers. The family attends Grace Emanuel Baptist Church in Flint.
