The New McCree Theatre’s Summer Soiree, Act III Gala will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Gateway Convention Center, 5353 Gateway Center. Only a few tickets are now available to sale and can be
purchased at the McCree Theatre, 4601 Clio Road, Flint, MI 48504.
The fundraiser is presented by Genesee Health System, Greater Flint Health Coalition and Mass Transportation Authority. Other sponsorships include Bishop Airport, Community Foundation, Communities First, Hamilton Health Center, Lawerence E. Moon Funeral, Mott Community College, Woodrow Stanley Foundation, Jacqueline and Michael Lewis.
Sinclair Broadcasting is the event’s media sponsor.
During the event the theatre will honor long time volunteers of the theatre: Linda English, Wanda Harrison, Deloris Johnson and former board member Catherine Fredericks. They will also extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Laverne Ross, an original staff member of the theatre and the person responsible for naming the theatre.
Executive Director, Charles Winfrey, invites the public to welcome Genesee County native and Tony Award Nominee, Crystal Lucas Perry to an evening of dinner, entertainment and inspiration. Lucas-Perry is a
product of the McCree Theatre and will bring a powerful message emphasizing the importance of Black Theatre.
Prior to the event at the Gateway Convention Center, Ms. Lucas-Perry will hold a meet and greet with McCree Theatre actors and other local actors at the theatre at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 30.
The Summer Soiree has become a ‘community must attend’ event.’ The McCree Theatre is seeking to promote more audience participation during their season, enhance performances and provide a learning laboratory for all performing artists, young and old,” said Winfrey.
Proceeds from the event will support the theatre’s youth arts programming.
