The Flint Area (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated presents FREE Hasselbring Health Resource Fair

 

The Flint Area (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is presenting a free community health resource fair Friday, May 31, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hasselbring Senior Center, 1002 W. Home Ave., Flint. More than 20 agencies have confirmed participation. There will be a special performance by the Kuungana African Drum and Dance Company at 3:30 p.m.

“Service to the community and awareness of area resources is critical to the citizens of Flint. The Flint Area (MI) Chapter is pleased to host this event with Hasselbring Senior Center and to have so many organizations ready to share important information relevant to all ages. In addition to health, table hosts represent the arts, literacy, job training, entrepreneurial assistance and voter registration,” said Chapter President Shirely W. Johnson.

With the support of the national organization, The Links, Foundation, its donors and chapters throughout the state of Michigan, The Flint Area (MI) Chapter established The Links, Flint Kids Matter Fund in 2016 (Community Foundation of Greater Flint) to address issues surrounding the Flint water crisis. The fund has supported neighborhood playgrounds, educational initiatives, healthy lifestyle programs such as cycling and support for art education with grants to programs such as Developing A Vegetable Consciousness and Kuungana African Drum and Dance Company.

The Flint Area (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered March 31, 1979. Members serve the community in five facet areas; Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.
