The City of Flint is NOT taxing water settlement payments

Flint, Mi. – Nearly 10 years after the Flint Water Crisis began, residents are receiving settlement payments. It is important to note that, as with many class-action settlements, the federal government will issue a 1099 tax form used to report various types of non-salary income.

To be clear, these are federal tax forms and are not issued by the City of Flint. F

lint City Treasurer Amanda Trujillo said, “The city of Flint has not and will not ever send out federal 1099 tax forms.”
