The Detroit Lions have a knack for winning games in the fourth quarter. They did it again. Lions QB Matthew Stafford, hit running back Theo Riddick with a game winning 11 yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds left to upset the Miami Dolphins 20-16.
The 7-2 Lions are living high on the hog after such a good start this season. This marks the third time this season that Stafford has led the Lions to come from behind victories.
Is this team for real? You can bet a lot of die-hard Lion fans are holding on to that "same old Lions" card in their back pocket. If you have followed the Lions over the years, you have seen it before.
The Lions start out doing well, then the bottom falls out. The next two games are going to be very tough. Up next are the 8-1 Arizona Cardinals and then the 7-2 New England Patriots. Both games are on the road.
The Cardinals will be without its starting quarterback, Carson Palmer. Palmer injured his knee and is out for the season. So who will quarterback the Cardinals? His name is Drew Stanton.
Stanton, you may remember, was a former standout at Michigan State and was drafted by the Lions in 2007. Stanton departed the Lions after the 2011 season mainly because he wanted to be more than a back-up quarterback to (you guessed it) Stafford.
Now the Michigan native will lead the high Cardinals against his old team. Stanton may not want to use the word revenge but you can bet, more than likely, he'll want to do something special.
The Lions defense will need another stellar performance against a team that likes to throw the ball deep down field. The way the "Cardiac Cats" have been playing they may make it to the playoffs.
