Statue dedication for bronze sculptures of historical or prominent females from our region

FLINT, Michigan. — Mayor Sheldon Neeley will dedicate a statuary created as part of a project titled Honoring Heroines and Humanitarians–Women Who Have Contributed to a Better Life for All in this Community.

The first group of honorees will be Claressa Shields, Edith Prunty Spencer, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, Sybyl McPeake Atwood, Frances Wilson Thompson and Olive Beasley. All have contributed invaluable service to our community.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28 and will include dedication remarks from Neeley, reading of a City Council Resolution by Dr. Ladel Lewis-2nd Ward Councilwoman, history, reading of the plagues and closing remarks.

Sponsoring organizations include Court Street Village Nonprofit, Community Foundation of Greater Flint, League of Women Voters-Flint, Friends of Berston, Mott Community College and Friends of the Flint Public Library.
