Skaff and the community helping FBEM to give hunger a punch in the gut

A fundraising campaign for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to provide backpacks full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare weekend foods for elementary school children is receiving tremendous community support. Now, thanks to Skaff, that support packs an extra punch!

As of the beginning of August, those who donated to the Food Bank’s BackPack program had their gift matched by the family-owned and long-time fixture in the community, Skaff Furniture-Carpet One.

The goal was to raise $10,000, with Skaff happily matching all donations up to that amount. Just two weeks into the campaign, contributions have already soared past the goal and continue to climb!

“It really is a testament to all the good people in our community,” says Skaff Furniture-Carpet One President Dick Skaff with a smile.

“We are thrilled to help feed kids in our community, and we hope more caring individuals will consider making a donation to this worthwhile cause,” Skaff added.

According to Skaff, the BackPack program continues through the end of the month, and any donation amount will help feed children in our area. Every $100 donation provides one child with a BackPack filled with food each weekend for the entire school year. For many of these children, this backpack is their only source of food when school is not in session.
