NorthGate to expand operations with new facility to service Ford Motor Company

FLINT/BURTON, MICH. – NorthGate, a Flint Township-based packaging and supply chain services company, is expanding its operations and bringing new jobs to the area after signing a deal to open a consigned packaging and distribution center for Ford Motor Company. This aftersales supply chain work will be housed in a 421,000-square-foot warehouse facility located at 4137 Davison Road in Burton, Mich.

NorthGatewill handle the logistics associated with packaging, sorting, and distribution of aftermarket parts to Ford Motor Company part distribution centers and dealerships around the United States.

“This new work and facility will bring 150 jobs to GeneseeCounty by year’s end, with an expectation that up to 300 or more employees will eventually be needed,” explained George Wilkinson, NorthGate president. These will be good-paying jobs at $13 to $20 per hour plus bonuses, with additional benefits after 90 days.”

Quentin L. Messer, Jr., CEO with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, said, “The MEDC believes in the value of this expansion project and has made a significant investment to help support NorthGate as it moves forward with this exciting economic growth initiative.”

“This is the type of business diversification and new employment opportunity we strive for and nurture here in the region,” stated Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Group.

“NorthGate continues to showcase the economic vitality of Flint and Genesee County, sending a positive message to the world that this is a great place to establish and grow a business,” Herman added.

Andy Goggins, NorthGate CEO, said, “As a second chance employer, we offer training and meaningful work that removes barriers to employment such as personal finance, transportation, childcare and conflict resolution.”

NorthGate founder Jack Goggins’ business philosophy was summarized in his favorite expression, “be ready,” which is where the program’s name comes from – a fitting tribute to Mr. Goggins ’legacy and the entire organization’s commitment to employees and the community.
