The service will take place at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 DuPont Street, Flint, and will welcome guest congregation Vermont Christian Church. The keynote message will be delivered by Reverend Devonte Powell, a respected local faith leader and active advocate for community safety. Rev. Powell has spearheaded several local initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence and promoting healing and prevention efforts.

“The Trump administration’s closure of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention is unconscionable,” said Vernon AME Flint Pastor Douglas Banks. “Our leadership as a faith community is more critical than ever if we are to continue making progress through education, advocacy and prayerful action.”
This year’s observance highlights the ongoing collaboration with key local partners, including Moms Demand Action, New Standard Academy and the North Flint Neighborhood Action Council, all of whom share a vision of safe, thriving neighborhoods, free from gun violence.
The public is warmly invited to attend and stand united in faith, remembrance and action.
