Musical "Mender" In Honor of the late Mr. Richard Battles, Sr.

“Mender”, A Musical of Unity, Healing, and Awareness

On Sunday November 30, 2014 at 4:00 pm, the Shiloh and Mt. Olive Baptist Churches will collaboratively present “Mender”, a musical of Unity, Healing and Awareness, in honor of the late Mr. Richard A. Battle, Sr.

Mr. Battle was a well-known musician in this community for more than 40 years. He was diligent in pursuing his call to the music ministry through several local churches, including Shiloh and Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Churches. He shared his gifts and talents with various organizations within the Flint community and across the country. He was a former Musical Director at The New McCree Theater, Flint Chapter Representative for the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and Minister of Music at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Battle passed in November 2013 from carbon monoxide poisoning due to a generator accident during a massive power outage that resulted from a terrible storm.

The Battle Family sincerely wishes to make people in the community aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide(CO) and steps that can be taken to prevent CO poisoning, such as the use of audible CO detectors. If just one life can be saved through these efforts, it’s well worth the effort.

The musical will serve as an opportunity to raise awareness about CO poisoning with a special presentation from the Flint and Mt. Morris Township Fire departments. Other guests include Depth Perception and Gospel Music Workshop of America-Flint Chapter.

Proceeds from “Mender” will be used to donate CO detectors to residents in need, particularly the economically disadvantaged and the elderly citizens in our community. The Richard A. Battle, Sr. Foundation, Inc has been established to support this endeavor. Contributions can be made to the foundation C/O FM Financial Credit Union, 606 Stevens St., P.O. Box 97, Flint, MI 48501.

The musical will be held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church 424 E. Kennelworth Ave, Flint, MI 48503.  Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. For more information please call (810) 610-7507 or (810) 813-0988
