Morehouse College Glee Club to perform March 12

On Tuesday, March 12, the Omicron Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., will present the Morehouse College Glee Club in concert. This year, Omicron Rho celebrates its 60th year as a chartered fraternity in the Flint community.
The Morehouse College Glee Club is a premiere singing organization of Morehouse College, traveling all over the country and the world, demonstrating excellence not only in choral performance, but also in discipline, dedication and brotherhood. Through this tradition, the Glee Club has an impressive history and seeks to secure its future by continuing this tradition through dedication and commitment of the members and leadership that its directors have provided throughout the years.
The mission of the Morehouse College Glee Club is to maintain a high standard of musical excellence. The Morehouse Glee Club is under the directorship of Dr. David E. Morrow, who has served as such since 1987.
The Glee Club has performed internationally in a variety of places. They have sung in African nations such as Sinegal, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda and Nigeria. They have also sang in Russia, Poland, Bermuda and the Bahamas and South Africa.
Additionally, The Glee Club has performed at the Atlanta Symphony Hall with soprano Jessye Norman. They participated as well in singing with Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan and Trisha Yearwood in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympics games held in Atlanta.
The fraternity is delighted to be able to present the Morehouse Glee Club in collaboration with the Carolyn M. Mawby Fund of the Community Foundation of Flint and several local congregations in the Flint community.
The Concert will take place at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd. in Flint, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
