MCC’s Workforce Dev. & Tri-Area Trucking to offer Truck Driving Course

Mott Community College’s (MCC) Workforce and Economic Development Division is partnering with Tri-Area Trucking to offer a four week trucking driving course. The first class will start on December 17, 2018, and run  weekdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm at the Workforce Education Center at 709 N. Saginaw Street in Flint. Please call 810-232-2555 for more information and to register.

“Truck driving is in high demand right now,” according to Dartanyan Jamerson, Director of Workforce Development, adding “currently we are tracking more than 100 local job postings for local and over the road drivers in Flint and the surrounding area.”

Requirements to participate in the four-week course include:

·         Must be at least 18 years of age

·         Must qualify to obtain (or have) a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP). Check with the Secretary of State Office to determine eligibility.

·         Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License (Michigan State ID is not acceptable).

·         Prior to the start date of class, students must complete their Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and DOT Drug Screen, and provide a copy of the Medical Examination Report and DOT Medical Card.
