Mayor Neeley Announces JoAnne Gurley’s Return to Flint as City Attorney

FLINT, Mich – The City of Flint is welcoming JoAnne Gurley back to the area to serve as city attorney. In this role, Gurley will manage the legal department, including litigation, serving as chief legal advisor and handling all legal matters for the city of Flint.

Gurley previously served as Flint’s chief deputy city attorney from February 2022 until November 2023. She has been serving as chief legal counsel for the city of Pontiac since November 2023 and was recently appointed to replace former Flint City Attorney William Kim.

“We are thrilled that JoAnne is returning to Flint,” said Mayor Neeley. “Her prior service to our city—combined with her experience in Pontiac’s legal department—brings invaluable expertise to our team and will help our community continue with the forward progress we have made.”

Gurley excels in delivering diligent, compassionate legal representation while collaborating effectively to get things done. Mayor Neeley is pleased to welcome her back to lead the legal department at the City of Flint.
