The Flint Area (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and their friends want to make sure that no child is forgotten during the upcoming holidays. The Links held its Holiday Brunch on December 13, at the Flint Golf Club to benefit the Old Newsboys; Let No Child Be Forgotten drive for toys and gifts and to showcase talented youth.

Links members and their guests were asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or a girl and a gift card for at least $10. Over 90 people attended the event with over $1,000 in gift cards and over 75 toys donated.

“These items will be given to children and families in our community to help them have a happy holiday season,” Shirley Johnson, chair of the event stated, “We are so thankful to be able to provide these items to the Old Newsboys. We were overwhelmed by the support of our members and friends.”

The program also included performances by talented youth Nia Yvette Taylor, third grade who played “Deck the Halls” on the piano, Hailee Lillian Clack, fifth grade, who sang “Break Every Chain,” and Tehirah Gaines who sang  a heartfelt story song entitled “My Child.”

Chris Hamilton, Executive Director of the Old Newsboys encouraged anyone wanting to make a donation to drop it off at 6255 Taylor Drive, Flint, 48507 or see their Facebook or website pages. The cost to sponsor a boy or girl is $20. The child receives clothing, hygiene items, and age appropriate gifts.

Those needing toys and gifts from the Old Newsboys are encouraged to call their office at 810.744-1840. “What many people don’t realize is that we have an agreement with MTA-Your Ride to provide transportation to our office.
