Jeffrey E. Clothier was elected last November to be the 67th District Court Judge. His investiture, or swearing-in, was held in December 2024 and attended by a who’s who of local legal personages.

A beloved mentor to many of the judges in the room, the Honorable Thomas C. Yeotis, spoke of Clothier’s internship. Other speakers were Steve Dawes, UAW Region 1-D; David Leyton, Genesee County Prosecutor; the Honorable Mark Latchana and the Honorable Duncan Beagle.

The speakers told tales of how involved Clothier has been in our local community. The Courier’s favorite story was how Clothier called offering assistance to the overwhelmed Humane Society, who was temporarily swamped after an inhumane puppy mill was closed down.  He did help out, and couldn’t walk away without adopting one of the dogs.

After his investiture, Clothier spoke fondly about his family who all pitched in when he decided to run for judge. Every family member including his mother, brother, wife, daughters and others worked tirelessly on multiple aspects of his campaign.

The Investiture was opened by the Genesee County Sheriff’s office Color Guard. Jowanne Carrigan then sang the National Anthem while Master of Ceremonies Michael P. Manley stood at attention.

The national anthem was sung by Jowanne Carrigan.

Mary Hood’s Genesee County Circuit Court judge investiture will be later in January.

The Honorable Duncan Beagles presentation was moving to Clothier, who gave Beagle a big hug. Michael P. Manley stands at the podium
