In Remembrance of Rev. Dr. Fred S. White

Rev. Dr. Fred Samuel White was born October 12, 1926 in Water Valley Mississippi. He at-
tended school in the Water Valley School District and graduated from Davidson High School there.
He was a graduate of United Bible Institute with a BRE degree and received an honorary doctorate
from Arkansas Baptist College on May 8, 1993. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the Unit-
ed States Army.

On March 4, 1953, he married Evelyn Posey and that union lasted over 55 years, ending only
when she went home to be with the Lord in 2008. Their marriage was truly "til parted by death".

Rev. Dr. White accepted Christ at an early age and when he and Sis. White moved to Flint,
they became members of the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr.
Alfred L. C. Robbs; when Pastor Robbs and the congregation moved to Christ Fellowship Missionary
Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. & Sis. White followed, Rev. Dr. White served on many auxiliaries while at
Christ Fellowship, i.e. Deacon & Trustees ministry, associate minister, Sunday School teacher, and
Sunday School Superintendent, to name a few. He was very dedicated in his service to our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ.

In 1973, Rev. Dr. White answered the call to organize a church and on February 9, 1973, he
founded the New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his illness pre-
vented him from serving. He was dedicated to serving New Heaven and leading others to Christ. He
was an active and proud member of the Great Lakes District, where he served in the following lead-
ership roles: President of the Great Lakes Baptist District Congress of Christian Education, second
Vice-President of the Baptist Ministers Alliance, Co-Chairperson of the CPSA Courier, a member of
the Concerned Pastors for Social Action; he was also a member of the "Sons of Christ Fellowship".
For many years, he was affiliated with the following organizations: National Baptist Congress of
Christian Education, the National Baptist Convention, the Wolverine State Congress, the Wolverine
State Convention, the Great Lakes District Baptist Congress of Christian Education and the Great
Lakes Baptist District Association.

Rev. Dr. White was employed at AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors, and retired after
more than 30 years of service.

Rev. Dr. White was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He holds a place in our hearts
that no one else can ever fill.

Rev. Dr. Fred Samuel White leaves to cherish his memory: Sister, Lorene White-McCollins
(Memphis, TN); Brother Johnny (Delores) White (Milwaukee, WI); 7 nephews; 7 nieces; goddaugh-
ters: Twinet Jenkins, Stephanie Marion, Michelle Booth, Geraldine Spratt; a host of great nieces,

dolph & Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and his team of caregivers, who took excellent care of
him.
