Hamilton Community Health Network and Hap Host Hamilton, HAP and YOU Health Resource Fair

FLINT, MI – From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11,  Hamilton Community Health Network and HAP will be hosting a day of family friendly, healthy fun, centered around encouraging men to take control of their health. The Hamilton, HAP and You Health Resource Fair will be held at the YMCA on 5219 W. Pierson Rd, Flushing, MI. This event, though inspired by the need to see more males getting regular check-ups, is for the entire family. Vendors, activities, games, food, prizes and more, will all be available at this event.

Tim McCarron, Lead Outreach and Enrollment Specialist stated that it’s time for men to take a step outside of their comfort zone and seek the medical help they need. He said:

“Many times, men don’t think it’s important to get to the doctor and have regular checkups. But an annual wellness exam is where many illnesses are caught. Catching diseases early leads to better outcomes for you and your family.”

Each year, 350,000 men die of cardiovascular disease (CDC), more than 700,000 are diagnosed with cancer (of which 300k of those cases result in death)(Men’s Health Resource Center) and 230,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer which is the second leading cause of death in men (Cancer.org).

“Our priority with this event is to bring awareness and encourage men, and everyone, to take control of their health choices. By providing the education around making better, but easy choices on how to live a healthier lifestyle can lead to longer, healthier lives for many,” said Stacy Sawyer, director of marketing and communications at Hamilton Community Health Network.

The Hamilton Hap and You Health Resource Fair on Saturday, June 11th at the Pierson Road YMCA is also sponsored by Valley Area Agency on Aging, Genesee County Parks, Hurley Medical Center, The Links, Incorporated, Crim, Mott Community College, the Genesee County 7th Judicial Circuit Friend of the Court and 475 Elite Training.
