FLINT – The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) would like parents to know that it is not too late to enroll their four-year-old in a Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). Spots are available in schools and childcare centers in Clio, Davison, and Flint, as well as other areas throughout Genesee County.
GSRP classrooms are in schools throughout Genesee County and offer a full-day schedule Monday through Thursday. Some locations also offer transportation. All GSRP programs exceed state requirements for safety and quality, and are rated by Michigan’s Great Start to Quality rating system.
“We are excited to continue to offer preschool opportunities for children in Genesee County,” stated Dr. Jodi Ramos, GISD’s Early Childhood Director.
Ramos added: “Our programs invite these youngest learners to embark on a journey of discovery and learning through quality interactions and play-based learning. Our team of experienced educators and support staff provide not only a safe and supportive environment, but also engaging activities providing the best experiences for the children.”
This high-quality preschool program is offered at a low cost or no cost to qualifying Genesee County families. Children who have a qualifying Individualized Education Plan (IEP), experiencing homelessness or in foster care are also eligible regardless of income.
Access to quality and affordable childcare and preschool remains an essential need for many families, and continues to have a critical impact on a child’s kindergarten readiness.
Even though the school year is well underway, spaces are still available and children can still benefit from participating in a GSRP. Parents should visit www.591KIDS.org or call (810) 591-KIDS to enroll their child today!
