GISD employees to perform acts of kindness across Genesee County today on June 4

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is excited to announce the 4th Annual Day of Giving will be held this Friday, June 4, 2021. After months of planning, GISD staff will go out into the community to perform thousands of acts of kindness for unsuspecting people across Genesee County. Leaders of the District would like to thank all the employees and community partners who have donated items and money to make this year’s Day of Giving possible.

“We started the Day of Giving as a fun way to make a positive impact throughout the community we serve,” said Lisa Hagel, Ed.D., superintendent of GISD.

“The effort keeps getting bigger and bigger each year as different people and businesses graciously join in to support the effort,” Hagel added. “We all have faced so many challenges over the last year, and we are excited to show appreciation to deserving and dedicated workers and others in the community. Our goal is to carefully and safely put smiles on thousands of people’s faces.”

GISD employees have spent hours planning and organizing more than 50 different projects to positively impact a variety of people across Mid-Michigan. From those who have fallen on hard times, to those who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, to shoppers who just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

“It’s going to be an exciting and wonderful day,” said Hagel.

Teams of GISD employees will be at various locations Friday, June 4th, wearing bright orange easily identifiable shirts. If you spot them, you know good things are in store. GISD Day of Giving efforts are meant to show kindness to others throughout the community and inspire people to do more of the same. When someone is on the receiving end of an intentional act of kindness, the GISD staff hopes they will pay it forward, causing the positive vibes to advance and reach as many people as possible. Pictures and updates will be posted on social media throughout the day. Follow the effort on Facebook and Twitter with #GISDDayofGiving.
